Nevadans for the Common Good
The work this group is doing is helping to fix problems in our society not just offer band-aids to the symptoms of the inequities of our society. This year's platform advocates for Medicaid, Elder Care, Public Education, and Immigration.
We Need Your Stories to Advocate for Elder Care!
Did you know that Nevada has the one of the largest percentage populations of senior citizens of any state, and one of the lowest levels of funding for senior services? In the last legislative session, funding for in-home care was increased slightly, but now the State of Nevada is developing a plan to privatize Medicaid coverage for the blind, disabled, and frail elderly. Nevadans for the Common Good has concerns as to how this will affect program eligibility, access, and quality of care for those relying on state funding for in-home, assisted living or nursing home care. Program providers and service recipients and their families must have a voice in this process. We want to have conversations with program providers and service recipients to hear their stories and understand their needs. Personal stories are powerful. If you have a story to tell, contact Tazo Schafer, Shirley Schludecker, Jackie Eihausen, Joanne Leovy or Carol Steffan.
