Rev. Dr. Nicole C. Kirk (she/her) is the Rev. Dr. J. Frank and Alice Schulman Chair of Unitarian Universalist History at Meadville Lombard Theological School and a historian of American religious history. She has served UU congregations in Ohio and New Jersey and is currently the Program Minister (part-time) at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She joined the Meadville Lombard faculty in 2012 after serving eight years in the parish and earning her Ph.D. at Princeton Theological Seminary. Her research interests include religion, business, mobility, and material culture in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Dr. Kirk’s publications include Wanamaker’s Temple: The Business of Religion in an Iconic Department Store (New York University Press, 2018, 2023) and chapters in several edited volumes.

​Dr. Kirk enjoys advising students and assisting them on their formational path(s). Over the years, she has met and worked with many of Meadville Lombard’s international partners in the Czech Republic, Japan, and Transylvania. In 2023, the Religious Society of Czech Unitarians gave Dr. Kirk the Award for Supporting Czech Unitarianism. A popular speaker, she gives lectures and sermons across the United States and internationally.

Robert "Bob" B. MacPhail
Dear friend and member of UUCLV, "Bob" Robert B. MacPhail died May 18, 2025 at the age of 85. Bob's life was marked by intellect, warmth, curiosity, humor, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, connection, and countless memories that will be cherished by his family and all who knew him. He was a lovely gentleman.

A memorial service will be held on September 6,
11 AM at
Unitarian Universalist North Parish of North Andover Massachusetts.

What does Collective Liberation mean for us as Unitarian Universalists? Poet June Jordan told us

What does our faith tell us in times such as these? How do we widen the circle until no one is left behind? All of us worthy. All of us saved. All of us free! Join Rev Kev as we explore the foundational values of Unitarian Universalism as expressed through Justice and Equity with Love at the center.

Rev. Kevin Mann (REV KEV) (he/him/siyá) was ordained by the First Unitarian Church of Oakland on October 1st, 2023, the first day of both Filipino American and LGBTQ History Months. He serves as a Chaplain at Sequoia Hospice, Faculty Advisor at Starr King School for the Ministry, and Consultant for Partnership with the UU Church of the Philippines. Rev Kev founded the California statewide chapter of DRUUMM (Diverse Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries), hosting quarterly retreats for BIPOC UUs. His ministry is rooted in Collective Liberation, where none of us is free until all of us are free.

About The Service
In Unitarian Universalism we often hear terms such as "Spiritual Growth," but what exactly does spiritual growth mean? What is it to be spiritual? These are questions that can be difficult to answer for anyone, but that can be particularly difficult for folks that grew up unchurched, or those who left or were traumatized by their religions of origin, and those who identify as nontheists. We'll explore some definitions of spirituality, and look at the ways a spiritual identity can be accessible to everyone. We hope you'll join us as we explore how spirituality and theology are separate, and how being in a multi-religious community can help us freely explore and find meaning for ourselves.
