Trans Pride Second Chance Prom

The Trans Pride Second Chance Prom will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Nevada Room, 953 East Sahara. Dinner is at 6, Dancing is at 7:30.  This is a chance for Trans folk to come to a prom as their authentic selves.

Free dresses and tuxes are available from Project 150 on May 28 from 9 to 1. For an appointment contact Jamie 702-906-4608.

Join UUCLV for a screening of Singing Revolution: A Documentary Film about Estonia's peaceful revolution that gained their independence from the USSR. Any and all proceeds will benefit Chef Jose Andre's Ukraine World Food Kitchens.

Have you ever wondered where we would be without our guardian angels? How we might have ended up if not for the interventions, schooling or nudges from our family, friends, or even relatively new people in our lives. Let’s celebrate those that spurred us on. Let’s remember with joy those that helped us get to where we are today. Join us at UUCLV as we give thanks to past, present and maybe future angels and... In concert with our UU values, let us consider the lives of the women and men that have and are serving in military services.

Some say sacrifice of oneself is an act of beauty. I say what we do because we love someone may have beautiful intentions and yet we must manifest our gifts in ways that generate life.

Join us with pictures of those you love in person and online. Let’s remember the beauty of our loved ones near and far together.

In order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the UUCLV congregation has eased back into in-person services with a hybrid system.

The Flower Ceremony, sometimes referred to as Flower Communion or Flower Festival, is an annual ritual that celebrates beauty, human uniqueness, diversity, and community.

Originally created in 1923 by Unitarian minister Norbert Capek of Prague, Czechoslovakia, the Flower Ceremony was introduced to the United States by Rev. Maya Capek, Norbert's widow.

In this ceremony, everyone in the congregation brings a flower. Each person places a flower on the altar or in a shared vase. The congregation and minister bless the flowers, and they're redistributed. Each person brings home a different flower than the one they brought.
Join us in person or online as you share the beauty and gift of a flower. Share pictures of your favorite flower ASAP so we may merge your offering with good music.

UU’S and the act of prayer or meditation this at times can be a challenging subject for us to navigate. Join us for this service as we open a dialogue with each other and lift up the beauty of being in it all! (National Day of Prayer - Inspired)

The words below come to us from Andrée Mol. This blessing was written in honor of two Unitarians, Martha and Waitstill Sharp, who during WWII dared to risk their own comfort in order to help save the lives of those in desperate need.

As we gather together,
May we remember
When you share with me what is most important to you,
That is where listening begins.
When I show you that I hear you,
When I say your life matters,
That is where compassion begins.
When I open the door to greet you,
That is where hospitality begins.
When I venture out to bring you to shelter,
That is where love begins.
When I risk my comfort to ease your suffering,
When I act against hatred, violence, and injustice,
That is where courage begins.
When we experience the full presence of each other,
Because of our shared humanity,
Because of our differences,
That is where holy gratitude begins.
May this space be a table
that is not complete
until all are welcome.
May this table be a space of beauty
where together
we create a series of miracles, and
where all that we share is sacred.

May it be so.

Our lives for the most part come and as it is so they go. The journey may be long one or relatively short. As Unitarian Universalists we honor the 6th source and 7th principle which say:

Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

This is our way as UU’s. This is for many of us, our prayer.
May we at UUCLV cultivate beauty and respect for life in its many manifestations.
Join us in this prayer is from the Navajo People and can be found in many places.

In beauty I walk
With beauty before me I walk
With beauty behind me I walk
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty around me I walk
It has become beauty again

PRINCIPLES with The Reverend Gordon Clay Bailey and Margaret Johnston

Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote seven Principles, which we hold as strong values and moral guides. We live out these Principles within a “living tradition” of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience.
As Rev. Barbara Wells ten Hove explains, “The Principles are not dogma or doctrine, but rather a guide for those of us who choose to join and participate in Unitarian Universalist religious communities.”

1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
