The word “heritage” evokes different images for different people. How do we hold our heritage and our history in our hearts and in our hands when they can be both lovely and horrifying? Can we acknowledge and then discontinue the harmful pieces of our heritages, while holding on to the kind, loving, and equitable pieces? What does that look like?
